What is the EV Charger Grant for Homes (EVHS)

Individuals purchasing eligible EVs can receive a grant covering up to 75% of the cost of purchasing and installing a home EV charger, capped at £350, including VAT. This grant is also available for company and leased cars.

Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS)

This scheme offers a voucher-based system for businesses to cover up to 75% of the purchase and installation costs of EV chargers at workplaces, capped at £350 per charger for up to 40 sockets across all sites.

On-Street Residential Chargepoint Scheme (ORCS)

Aimed at local authorities, this scheme supports the installation of on-street EV chargers to help residents without access to off-street parking. It offers funding for 60% of the capital costs involved, up to £7,500 per installation, with a higher cap available if electrical connection costs are exceptionally high.

Plug-in Grants

While the plug-in car grant for passenger cars has ended, financial incentives continue for other types of vehicles. These include:

  • Up to 35% off the list price for eligible electric vans, motorcycles, taxis, and trucks, with caps varying based on the vehicle type (e.g., £2,500 for small vans, £5,000 for larger vans).

Tax Benefits

There are significant tax advantages for both individuals and businesses, including exemption from Vehicle Excise Duty for EVs and a 100% first-year allowance for businesses installing charging infrastructure, which can be written off against their tax bill.
